Miami-Dade County police on Friday identified the gunman as 33-year-old Kevin L. Hensley of Miami.
The Associated Press reports he was charged with murder in the June 16 shooting of 32-year old Stacy Smith.
Authorities say the shooting took place in Coral Square mall.
Hentsley, who police say was not armed, opened fire on Smith and wounded her in the head.
Horsley was captured hours later in a parking garage at the mall and died of his injuries.
In a statement, Hensleys parents, Eric and Nancy Hensles, described their son as a loving, caring and selfless son who loved to play the guitar.
The statement said his family is devastated by the loss of his beloved Stacy and his many loving friends, and they want to thank the community for their support during this difficult time.
