The retail giant announced plans to open two new stores at the former Macy’s in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the former Sears in downtown Kansas City.
In its first quarter of 2018, Macy’s expects to sell $3.8 billion worth of merchandise at its three stores, with a combined total of more than 2,200 stores in 24 states.
The company expects the first store will open this summer in Tulsa, with the second store opening in 2019.
Macy’s has not disclosed its financials for the first two stores, which will have about 500 employees.
At the Tulsa location, the company will employ around 100 people, according to a statement released Friday.
Its announcement comes as Macy’s struggles to win over shoppers with new products, including its new line of clothes, which include more than 20 new lines of clothes.
A recent report by Bloomberg News said the company has lost as much as $300 million on the Macy’s chain in the past three years.
The report said Macy’s revenue fell 6 percent in the fourth quarter.
