Posted August 26, 2018 06:33:20A “Bridging Mall Cop” who was involved in a “Bidgewater Mall cop” takedown of a man in a parking lot in Holyoke, Massachusetts, has been arrested.
According to a press release from the Massachusetts State Police, on August 22, police responded to a report of a robbery at a mall in Holyokes, where they found 27-year-old Patrick McHenry in the parking lot of the mall, “with a handgun in his waistband and a large amount of cash in his pocket.”
According to police, McHenry, a “bounty hunter” for the city of Holyoke and a former employee of the city, “pursued a suspect on foot” at the mall when he realized that the suspect was wearing a vest.
McHenry allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the suspect in the leg.
The suspect was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
McHugh was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The incident is still under investigation.
A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Police Department said McHenry has a history of violence and that he is on paid administrative leave, but the department is still working to get the full details of the arrest.
McHarley is currently free on $250,000 bond.
