A mall in the heart of Los Angeles has been getting a makeover in the form of an outdoor outdoor shopping mall, which is currently being designed by a group of designers in Oakland, California.
Located on the east side of downtown Los Angeles, the new Oakwood Mall is being designed as a new, outdoor space that will allow shoppers to get an exclusive look at what’s on offer in this city of shopping centers.
“Oakwood Mall in downtown Los Angels will be the world’s largest outdoor shopping center, with over a dozen locations, including more than 30 stores, as well as an array of shopping and entertainment experiences including the first outdoor shopping plaza in the world, the world-famous cross creek mall,” a statement from the project’s organizers read.
“With over 30 stores and more than 20,000 square feet of retail space, this is a unique mall with a vibrant, diverse and eclectic mix of stores, restaurants and entertainment.”
The mall, currently under construction, is located at the corner of Alameda and Alameda Avenue, and will be located near two major intersections that connect to the area’s two busiest shopping areas, the cross creek and livingston malls.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the project will be open to the public starting in mid-September.
The mall is expected to open to shoppers this year, and the first stores in the area will be set to open this fall.
