With a massive mall looming on the horizon, Vancouver has just announced plans to build a new shopping mall in its west.
The mall will be called Cherry Hill Mall and will boast a “luxury boutique and retail space”.
The city is hoping the mall will boost the economy by attracting more tourists to the area, with an expected 5,000 jobs.
According to a press release, the “new retail centre” will be located on a 7-acre parcel of land, near the Cherry Hill Mountain resort, at the intersection of Highway 99 and the Victoria Highway.
There will be an estimated $1.8 billion in annual economic impact for the area when the mall opens, according to the city.
Cherry Hill Mall is expected to be built in 2019, with the first phase set to open in 2020.
Vancouver is set to spend more than $30 million on the mall, which is expected be fully operational by 2021.
